She's A Fine Motorcycle!

Wow! Columbia SC home of the Gamecocks. We played at 5 Points Pub Sunday night in Columbia SC and had a great time. Here's how the night went:

ONE- Drove through a bad thunder storm talking about gas.
TWO- Drove around 5 Points Pub at least 6 times to find out we could have came through the front door.
THREE- Realized that Aaron had ate pinto beans and decided to let the sound man know it as he bends down beside Aaron.
FOUR- Ate little 2" Jimmy Johns sandwiches for supper in a green room that, well lets just say it was a rock and roll green room.
FIVE- Played what felt like a real good 50 min set for 12 people including the opening band and bar tenders. (but yes we sold merch and enjoyed every minute of it.)
SIX- Got to hang out with some really cool fans, THE SKIPPERS CREW. (Hope to see you guys soon)
SEVEN & THE BEST ONE YET- Met Darrell, or who I like to call "Mr. Jingles". He is responsible for the Jingles called "She's A Fine Motorcycle", & "Pie In The Sky".

Darrell if you ever read this thanks for a great ending to the night in Columbia SC and I hope you make millions off your Jingles.
We are on our way to Savannah GA. Then to Boca Raton FL. So until then, GOOD BYE.

Ready, Set, Fireworks

Last night was so good. Greenville really showed us how well they could sing. It started raining earlier in th day and what was funny is the weather man said there were on a 30% chance of rain for that day, and I guess that the 30% decided to fall on us. But everyone didn't mind they danced in the rain and was happy as could be. When we came on there was a bout 10,000 people and NO RAIN. We were stoked. I have to say that was one of the most memorable shows. Because of it being at home and our fans where so loud when they would sing. I Think my most memorable moment of last night was when we did our song Drown and the new song Follow Me Home (Summer Time). Especially when everyone in the place wrapped their arms around each other and united as one and was singing on Follow Me Home (Summer Time). The Fireworks were so Big it was nice. My son sleep through the whole thing. (WHAT!) I hope everyone had as much fun as we did last night. I Really appreciate Redemption World Outreach Center and HIS Radio 89.3 for helping promote and putting on this show. To our Fans I hope to see all you guys real soon and thanks for a wonderful night, Have a great July 4th weekend.

Viva La Vida: The Meaning

This coming Sunday I'm at home for the day and Marathon Church has asked me sing Cold Plays new radio single Viva La Vida. I hope you have had a chance to get the newest Cold Play record cause it is very good. It's more of a story than people think it is. I bought it the day it came out but I've been taking it in, letting everyone else blog and write about what they thought of it. I figured I really needed to do some research before I would sing it for 3500 people. I thought this was a great way to look at the song.

Coldplay gone catholic!?

If we analyze the lyrics, the song has obvious biblical references and I think it's a song about Jesus Christ.

I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sweep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own

All catholics should know that Jesus Christ gave the word and he controlled the seas - I think that the line now in the morning I sweep alone clearly means that Jesus Christ was betrayed and had to endure many things alone! The first verse is talking about a decline from wealth and fame to a nobody, just like Jesus Christ experienced on his life! He used to be a king, but he had to die for all human beings..So on a certain way he turned over his kingship (I used to rule the world). Clear reference of someone giving God kingship over his life.

I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Listen as the crowd would sing,
"Now the old king is dead, long live the king!"
One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt, pillars of sand

The line upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand, possibly is a reference to the sermon on the mount where Jesus speaks of a wise man building is house on a rock while the foolish man builds his house on the sand, only to be washed away.

Those days, there were different kings! Ones thought the king was Jesus Christ himself, others thought the king was the Roman authority and other thought the king was the Jewish priests.

I hear Jerusalem bells a ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
Once you know there was never, never an honest word
That was when I ruled the world

Jerusalem bells and Roman Cavalry, it's obvious it's a biblical allusion. I think the line Be my mirror my sword and shield, it's a praying to God for strength. Also, the line my missionaries in a foreign field, has to do with the idea of taking the message of God and Jesus Christ all around the world. Finally, never an honest word, meaning the betrayal to Jesus Christ and his subsequent death.

I know St. Peter will call my name, referring to the fact of being admitted to heaven!

It was the wicked and wild wind
Blew down the doors to let me in
Shattered windows and the sound of drums
People couldn't believe what I'd become
Revolutionaries wait
For my head on a silver plate
Just a puppet on a lonely string
Oh who would ever wanna be king?

This could be a reference to John the Baptist of the New Testament.
In The Book of Mark, John is noted as the one that comes before Jesus to announce His coming to Earth. A lot of people thought he (John) was going to be their Messiah, however he corrected them and told them that it was the One after him that would fill that role. I, also, argue that point because it is said somewhere that John's head was brought to king Herod on a Silver Platter.

Blew down the doors to let me in, meaning when Jesus Christ got furious because they turned the temple into a market!

No one can know the true meaning of this song unless we hear it from Chris Martin him self but I would say that that is good idea of what he might say.
If your in the Greenville SC area this Sunday come to Marathon Church 315 Roe RD. Greenville SC 29611 I hope to see you there if not go get the record Viva La Vida
from Cold Play.

"The Question"

I've been thinking a lot this weekend about my life, my family, and where i am in life. I've been doing a lot of writing and most of the time the meanings of the songs come after the song is done, I know weird huh. I wrote a song called "The Question" and It was a song intended to come from the point of I believe Christ and no matter what scientist or what people say I will believe! Every time I would get to the second verse I would have to stop because of it not coming to me. Today I finally realize what was going on. I realized that we sometimes think that God is after revenge and He isn't. He is everything but that. We think that he is after us or out to get us. He came to earth and died so no one would "get us". He is a loving God and a God of multiple chances. I heard my pastor say our lives are like ropes, we mess up and we put knots on our rope and we get discouraged. But the beauty of God is that he takes those knots and turns them into stepping stones. It's easier to climb a rope with knots wouldn't you agree. Jesus has taken a lot of messed up people and made them into Godly men and women for Him. My song "The Question" hit's this point I believe in a God that makes all things good. I believe in a God of multipul Chances. I believe in a God who brings hope and forgiveness to us. We find ourselves asking for this forgiveness and He forgives but we never forgive ourselves. Remember God used a lot of people with knots, he can use you. Run with God run with His wind behind you guiding you the way. His plans are better than ours.

Relevant Magazine & Chasen

Chasen-If you’ve been to a wedding anytime between 1998 and now, you’ve slow danced to one of Edwin McCain’s smash singles “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask for More.” McCain (who still records and tours) helped develop and release fellow South Carolinian Chasen, who has released a strong set of acoustic driven worship/rock, which he honed on the road opening for the likes of Sister Hazel and Relient K. He’s already scored a hit on Christian radio (“Crazy Beautiful”) and proves himself a gifted songwriter and arranger throughout his 13 track debut.

The Prestige

What a great movie I have to say it took me 2 years to finally watch this movie. Now that I have it is one of the best movies I've seen. Compared to the illusionist this dominates. I say it's a must see. here's a little about the film.

The Prestige is a 2006 period film directed by Christopher Nolan, The story follows Robert Angier and Alfred Borden, rival stage magicians in fin de siècle London. Obsessed with creating the best stage illusion, they engage in competitive one-upmanship with tragic results.

The film features Christian Bale as Alfred Borden, Hugh Jackman as Robert Angier, and David Bowie as Nikola Tesla. It also stars Michael Caine, Scarlett Johansson, Piper Perabo, Andy Serkis, and Rebecca Hall. The film reunites Nolan with actors Bale and Caine from Batman Begins.

The film is split into three storylines, each resembling one of "the three stages of magic". First, there is the setup, or the "pledge," where the magician shows the audience something that appears ordinary but is probably not, making use of misdirection. Next is the performance, or the "turn," where the magician makes the ordinary act extraordinary. Lastly, there is the "prestige," where the effect of the illusion is produced. There are "twists and turns, where lives hang in the balance and you see something shocking you've never seen before

4 Blogs N 1

(1.) Just getting used to having a son. A lot of times I walk down stares and look at my wife holding him and I'm like o yeah we have a son, thats mine. I really love that little boy, he's a keeper. :)

(2.) On a side note congrats to our fellow American idol winner David Cook. Just Kidding we really have no connection although I did know a lot of the contestants this year it was a little weird to see them. We met at either other singing competitions or shows. But the guys and I really wanted David Cook to win, and so it was he won. David Cook said it best "if you don't dream big whats the use of dreaming". Sad but true thats Silvers and mine ring tone, man thats bad.

(3)
Today Silver and I went and picked up our brand new trailer. It was much needed. We were out of room in our old trailer, so now we have plenty of room.

(4) Lastly we have started writing for our next record. As few of you know we have a lot of songs that did not make the record that fans love. We are just writing we're not in the studio with our producer yet just getting songs together. So you may hear songs that are not on the record in our live shows. We like to see how you react so we know if they are keepers or not. Well thats all for now. If I don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight

Pull The Sun Glasses Down & Look Sideways, Thats CSI.

I dont know about you but I watch a lot of TV shows and movies. Not as much as Silver but I watch my fare share of them, especially on tour. I was watching one of the great CSI episodes and I have to say that is the most ridiculous show I have ever seen. For some reason I cant stop watching though. If you don't know what I'm talking about let me explain. On one episode they found this camera built inside of a car and they hook it up to the back of this hummer, thats right a hummer with 22" rims. First of all this is what a police car should look like:
But on the episodes of CSI Miami this is their police cars:

They go to the back of this hummer and in the back there's this glass that comes down from the roof of the hummer. They plug in the camera that was found at the crime scene to the hummer by USB and then the glass that just came down becomes a video screen and they find the killer right there in front of them.
If we could only have the police hummer vehicles and those detectives they have we would never have to worry again about who did what to who. (Sarcasm!)

I still find my self watching those CSI Miamis, it's like a bad wreck, you know it's bad but you cant help but look. "Thats what we call a Crime Scene Investigation",

The Big Whammy!!!!

Ok, ok so here's where I am. Today my friend (Stevo) & I went to pick up a nice rocking chair from Babies-R-Us. All went good, we picked it up and put in a truck I borrowed from my other friend B-Holda. We tied it down with bungee cables so it was in there pretty good but I still felt something odd about the box. I drove off got on interstate 85 in Greenville SC. I was going around 50 or so. The speed limit is 65. I was just talking and WAM!!!!! Stevo says we lost it, hang on wait its... BAM!!! A transfer truck creams our brand new rocking chair into 1000 pieces. I quickly pull over try to get out and another truck barely misses my door. I run and stop traffic on 85 & pick up the chair with one hand and grab pieces with the other hand. I take the chair home to my wife almost in tears. Well we've been trying to get this chair for about a month and we finally found this one in-stock here, not no mo. It will be a while before they get another one. To end this big extravaganza I called Babies-R-Us and they are ordering another one for nothing. After we take it back of course. (Which I think thats funny because of all the pieces there are to take back)
Well we head to the hospital tomorrow afternoon and he will be here Thursday. Wish us luck, Pray for us and I will update you on more news with me and the guys from the band.
Until Then, Go Babies-R-Us

Anxiously.

This is a song I worked on yesterday while I was anxiously waiting on Emerson to be born. For more blogs vist the new Chasen website

Anxiously

There’s a blue room at mid night
And I find my self down by his bed side
Praying that I will be a good dad.

To hold my son or play with his toys.
To dress him up like he's a cowboy.
Oh what I'd do to have him right now

Long walks at night
Hundred calls from another line.

Anxiously waiting, it’s driving me crazy.
There’s gotta be somebody out there to
comprehend my
Anxiously waiting, rapidly fading
Into this moment in my life
Where I quickly change my world to better his

So tonight I’ve been wondering maybe if I
Could sing a little he would come
And make my day

And now it’s beyond my prayers, my dreams
To bring him home make a family and find what
I’ve been searching for

Clocks ring cause it’s time
It’s like I can hear him cry

Anxiously waiting, it’s driving me crazy.
There’s gotta be somebody out there to
comprehend my
Anxiously waiting, rapidly fading
Into this moment in my life
Where I quickly change my world to better his

Come Home baby (4x)

Anxiously waiting, it’s driving me crazy.
There’s gotta be somebody out there to
comprehend my
Anxiously waiting, rapidly fading
Into this moment in my life
Where I quickly change my world to better his

365 days of Christmas morning.

Ok I'm new at this whole DAD business but here's what I want to know. When will the little guy get here? We went to the hospital Thursday Morning around 5:30am and we thought we had a winner. But it was just not the right time. He needed to cook for just a little longer. So now my wife and are trying to find things to do to make the process move a little faster. Like walking 2 miles in 2.5 hrs, eating Mexican food. Either way I would rather him come when he is supposed to come verses us forcing him to get here. This whole process is like Christmas morning every morning. it might change once he's here but as now we are just enjoying these "Christmas mornings." Well I'll keep you all updated and thanks for reading my blogs.

The Reflection.

WOW! What a week it's been. We just got back from Belize. We had the opportunity to play our music for thousands of people in another country. From the very time we steeped off the plane we were treated like royalty. We really feel a close connection with the people in the country of Belize. We were there for 7 or 8 days and we did everything from swim with sharks and stingrays, yes there was a ugly, ugly Barracuda too. Any way we did things like that to tubing through caves in the mountains. We had a mud bath that was a very unconformable but hysterical experience. (thats a story in it self, lets just say I got really close to my managers) We really did have a great time with the band called Everlife. I would encourage you to check out there site and if you get the chance to see them play, do it. It was an honor for us to have this opportunity. We could have not done it with out John Eve and Anthony from Rowkids. We look forward to see where God takes us next year. To all of our fans down in Belize thank you so much for a great week. Like we said you have a beautiful country and this wont be the last time that you will see us.
On another note, if you every need a security guard or a driver we've got the men for the Job. Eloy and David from Belize, thanks for keeping us safe. you guys are the real deal. Here's a few shots of our trip.

Until Next Time
